John Russell ‘Russ’ McGuire

John Russell “Russ” McGuire, 69, of Spokane Valley, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009.

He was a former longtime resident of Wenatchee and had worked in the plumbing and pipe fitting trades.

Survivors include his son, Michael McGuire of East Wenatchee; his sisters, Novella Bratton and Sherlyn McGuire, both of Wenatchee; and his longtime companion, Darlene Rose of Spokane Valley.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Willie’s Sports Bar and Grill, 921 Valley Mall Parkway in East Wenatchee.

Florence Mary ‘Flo’ Murphy

Florence Mary “Flo” Murphy, 88, of East Wenatchee, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009.

She had lived in East Wenatchee for 37 years. She had been a civilian court reporter at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Murphy of East Wenatchee.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in East Wenatchee.

Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.

Evelyn J. Malloy

Evelyn J. Malloy, 88, of East Wenatchee, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009.

She had lived in the Wenatchee Valley for the past 35 years and had been a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, James “Bud” Malloy of East Wenatchee; her sister, Vera Rozell of Silver Springs, Fla., and Dale Volker of Grass Valley, Calif.

Private family services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee.

Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.

John ‘Johnny’ Sprietsma

John “Johnny” Sprietsma, 90, of Wenatchee, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009.

He was a longtime Wenatchee Valley resident. He had been a custodian at Wenatchee High School, retiring in 1982.

Survivors include his wife, Elma Sprietsma of Wenatchee; and his children, James Michael Sparks of Sagle, Idaho, Patricia Ann Cox of Wenatchee and Karen Engley of East Wenatchee.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 19 at Telford’s Chapel of the Valley in East Wenatchee.

Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley.

Ruth E. Neal

Ruth E. Neal, 96, of Wenat-chee, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at Blossom Creek Memory Care Center.

She was a former longtime resident of Omak and had lived in Wenatchee for the past 21 years. She had been a retail sales clerk for 28 years for the J.C. Penney store in Omak.

Survivors include her daughters, Betty Keck of Mesa, Ariz., and Nina Davis of Wenatchee.

A service of commemoration will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the King’s Orchard Church of Christ, 1610 Orchard Ave. in Wenatchee, with Minister Dale Linge officiating.

Arrangements are by Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee.

Ethel M. Woods

Ethel M. Woods, 96, of Chelan, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009.

She was a longtime Chelan resident. She had been a site supervisor for Meals on Wheels and was a saleswoman at J.C. Penney.

Survivors include her daughters, Pat Brockwell of Malaga and Marion Rose Neff of Trenton, Mo.

Private services will be held.

Arrangements are by Jones & Jones-Betts Funeral Home, Wenatchee.

Dorthyan Lund

Dorthyan Lund, 92, of Sammamish, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009. She was a previous longtime resident of Tonasket and had been a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Karen Lund of Houston, Texas, Judith Wood of Seattle, Jani Bakke of Fort Washington, Md., and Sally Lund of Issaquah.

A family memorial gathering will be held in the summer. Arrangements are by Barton Family Funeral Service of Seattle, Kirkland and Renton.

Theodore B. ‘Ted’ Rice

Theodore B. “Ted” Rice, 86, of Coulee City, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009. He was a lifelong resident of Coulee City and had been a wheat farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Rice of Coulee City; and his daughters, Marcia Henkle of East Wenatchee and Marianne Bechtol of Kennewick.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 2 in Coulee City. The location will be announced at a later date. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Telford’s Chapel of the Valley in East Wenatchee. A family graveside service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane.

Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley.
