Roger Dean Rose
Tuesday, December 8, 2009
Roger Dean Rose went to be with our Lord on December 5, 2009, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Sage, AR on August 30, 1935, to Archie Rose and Alma (Stroud) Rose. He attended school in Melbourne, AR, which is where he met his future wife, Lois Collier. In 1955, shortly after his graduation, he married Lois, and he and his young bride moved to the Wenatchee area, where they would live for the next 51 years. Upon their arrival to Wenatchee, Roger began working at Columbia River Orchards, where he would remain until he began construction work on Rocky Reach, Wanapum and Wells Dam. After almost eight years in construction, Roger went to work as a Horticulturist for the WSU Tree Fruit Research Center, here in Wenatchee, where he would be employed for the next 30 years. He was a member, an Elder and a Deacon at the East Wenatchee Church of Christ for 30 years, before moving to the King's Orchard Church of Christ in Wenatchee.
Roger is survived by his son, Ron (Rhonda); daughter, Lisa (Ricardo); grandchildren, Torrie (Adam), Chelsea, Christian and Devin; his great-grandchildren, Haidin and Norah; and his sister, Martha Helm of Broken Arrow, OK. Waiting for him in Heaven are both of his parents; his wife, Lois; son, Paul; and his sister, Maxine Umphnour.
Roger's family would like to extend their heartfelt thank you's to Dr. Notter and his staff, the hospice nurses and Roger's good friend and caregiver, Roberta Herd.
A Service of Commemoration will be held at The King's Orchard Church of Christ, 1610 Orchard Avenue, Wenatchee, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, with a reception to follow. Please sign in or leave a memory for the family online by visiting www.HeritageMemorialChapel.com. A Private Family Entombment will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, with all the arrangements entrusted to Heritage Memorial Chapel.
