Arol R. "Bud" Doust

Bud Doust, 81, of Omak, died Sunday, December 5, 2009. He died peacefully in his sleep after a brief battle with cancer. He was born June 16, 1928, in Yakima, WA to Arol I. and Dorothy Doust. He graduated from Washington State College (WSU), where he met and married Diane Petersen of Omak on June 1, 1954. Bud then went into the military and retired as a Colonel from the Army Signal Corps in 1975. Bud was decorated with numerous meritorious service awards and served several tours of duty in Vietnam and other overseas positions. Bud loved the outdoors, hunting in the Okanogan, and fishing in Alaska, Canada and in the U.S. Bud's leisure time was spent doing things around his property, relaxing with family and friends at the family cabin on Crawfish Lake, and camping with his Caribou Trail Good Sam buddies. Bud also was a member of the Elks Club and volunteered time at the Okanogan County Museum.
Bud is survived by his wife, Diane; daughter, Donna (Kevin) Corson of Eugene, OR; son, David (Shelby) of Salt Lake City, UT; grandsons, Sam and Peter Doust of Salt Lake City; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Fred; and a son, Dale.
There will be No Services at Bud's request. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Okanogan County Museum or the charity of your choice. Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.
