Josephine L. Biggs, age 82 of Tonasket, WA, passed away December 20, 2009, at Tonasket. She was born August 31, 1927, in Everett, WA. Jo grew up in Arlington, WA and graduated from Arlington High School in 1945. She attended the University of Washington and graduated with degrees in English and History in 1950, and a certificate in Library Science. Jo began her teaching career at Sumas High School in 1950, and moved to Tonasket in 1951. She met her husband, Al (also a teacher at Tonasket) in 1953. The two were married in 1954, in Arlington, WA. Jo and Al lived the next 55 years in Tonasket and raised two sons. She was a lifelong fan of UW Husky football, Seattle Mariners baseball and Gonzaga University basketball. She would watch virtually every Husky, Mariner and Gonzaga game, when they were on the television. Jo was a member of the Tonasket Community Church, P.E.O. and the UW Alumni Association.
She is survived by her husband, Al Biggs; her children, Mark and Craig Biggs; a sister, Edith Palo; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Tonasket Community Church with Pastor Leon Alden officiating. Internment will be at Tonasket Cemetery with Private Family Ceremony. Memorials may be made to the Tonasket Community Church or Tonasket High School Community Scholarship fund. Bergh Funeral Service Oroville/Tonasket in care of Arrangements.
