Commission votes to allow guns in Chelan County parks
Tuesday, May 5, 2009
WENATCHEE — Chelan County commissioners amended county codes on Monday to allow guns to be carried in county parks.
The county still does not allow the firing of guns in county parks, but will allow people to possess them, which is in accordance with state law. The county owns Wenatchee River County Park at Monitor and Ohme Gardens.
The change came after someone called the county and inquired why gun possession was banned in county parks when state law allows it.
No one from the general public attended a public hearing on Monday or submitted comments.

This is deliberately false reporting on the part of this paper, in support of illegal actions of your local Government.
No one has authority to allow you to bear arms. That right is guaranteed by both the US and WA Constitutions, 2nd Amendment and Article 1, Section 24.
The State and Locals only have your permission to enact certain restrictions on firearms.
The Media, this Paper in particular, are deliberately leaving the false impression that you need a permit or permission to Bear Arms in any case, deliberately false.
Its usually phrased as "John Doe had training and a permit to bear arms" neither are required to openly, publically bear arms.
What has this newspaper done to learn about and correctly report on such a vital issue?

davec Its called comprehension. If you first read both sentences in the article, then think about what they mean, you don't post comments that are WRONG.
Please read the article again. The article is about changing an ordinance that the County passed, then was pointed out that it was illegal.

davec you are absolutely correct! I agree that the wording gives the false impression that they are "letting" people carry guns. The right to bear arms SHALL NOT be infringed. That is our constitutional right and it is our right as living humans to protect ourselves and those we care about. I can't possibly fathom why anyone would want to ban guns from city parks! This is where our children play, we walk our dogs and feel safe in getting some fresh air. To take away our personal security is just plain wrong! Guns should be in the hands of the good guys, because the bad guys don't follow the rules.
