Tuesday, November 3, 2009
QUINCY — The Quincy School Board appointed Joann Garces as its newest member at a special board meeting Monday.
Garces will complete the term left by District 3 Director Alan Balciar, who resigned last summer. The position expires in November 2011.
The board interviewed two candidates for the position at an open meeting Monday and then went into executive session to make their selection, said Burton Dickerson, Quincy superintendent.
Garces is a lifelong Quincy resident who works at the Quincy Valley Medical Center. She has two children who attend Quincy schools, Dickerson said.
