WENATCHEE — Brewster jumped out to a 2-0 lead on league champ Cashmere in a district soccer semifinal Tuesday, but the Bulldogs scored the last six goals of the game for a 6-2 win.

Corina Gebbers and Jackie McCormick hooked up for both Brewster goals. Gebbers scored the first on a free kick from McCormick in the eighth minute to give the Bears a 1-0 halftime lead, and McCormick threaded a pass through traffic to return the favor three minutes into the second half.

“We were down two-nil, and things were not looking very good,” Bulldogs coach Dennis Tronson said.

But three minutes later, the Bulldogs got on the board thanks to — who else — leading scorer Stephanie Zamudio. Zamudio’s header from six yards out off a corner kick by Rosie Bushy cut Brewster’s lead in half.

That first goal kind of re-energized us,” Tronson said.

It was the first of three straight goals off corner kicks for the Bulldogs. Bushy twisted one in off the hip of a defender in the 48th minute to tie it, and Gaby Gonzalez put the Bulldogs ahead to stay when she scored on a corner kick by Bushy in the 48th minute.

Zamudia struck again in the 63rd minute, Kelsey Taylor tacked on another goal in the 65th minute, and Gaby Gonzalez closed out the scoring in the 73rd minute, giving the Bulldogs six goals in a 27-minute span.

Cascade 0, Okanogan 0

Cascade knocked in a pair of goals in a shootout to win at Okanogan after the teams had battled to a scoreless draw in regulation.

The Kodiaks will now meet Cashmere at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Apple Bowl, with the winner securing a berth to state. Brewster and Okanogan will meet in an elimination game at 6 p.m. at the Apple Bowl.

The first game loser and the second game winner will then return to Wenatchee on Saturday to play for the second state berth from the district.

East Valley 2, Ephrata 0

The Devils sent the Tigers into the losers’ bracket Tuesday, winning 2-0.

Ephrata will now face Prosser in an elimination match on Thursday. The winner will advance to play Saturday for the third state berth.
