• Mr. and Mrs. C.F. Brown of Chelan arrived here on the evening boat and will spend the next few days looking over real estate.
• City engineer C.C. Ward has directed hitching racks to be built on vacant lots just east of the courthouse.
50 years ago — 1959
• Six North Central Washington residents were named semifinalists in competition for the National Merit Scholarships. They are Peter F. Cushen of Chelan; Joseph H. Weis of Coulee Dam; James D. Smith of Pateros; Kenton R. Corum of Tonasket; and Bruce B. Gibson and Baird B. McKee, both of Wenatchee.
25 years ago — 1984
• East Wenatchee race car driver Garrett Evans finished third in last weekend’s ninth annual Western 150 stock car race at Anderson, Calif.
