Stanley "Stan" R. Fields, 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, October 30, 2009. Stan was born on February 26, 1926, in Omaha, NE, the last of eight children to Ezra and Fannie Fields. Stan graduated with honors from North High School, having served as a Captain in the Student ROTC. Stan then joined the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and he was very patriotic and proud of his military service for his beloved America. Upon release, he met and married Helen, his wife of almost 63 years. They spent two years at Omaha University, where Stan majored in Chemistry. Stan then transferred to Oregon State University, where he and Helen spent three years, while he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. Stan's first job was with General Electric in Richland, WA, where their two sons, Matt and Curt, were born. Stan's work with Aerojet Corp. took the family to Fair Oaks, CA. The family moved to Canoga Park, CA when Stan accepted a position with Atomics International. Stan and the family returned to Richland, WA in 1967, to work for Battelle and then at Westinghouse Hanford, until he retired in 1988. Stan's retirement years were spent traveling coast to coast in an RV with his sweetheart, Helen. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior as a young person and then recommitted his life to the Lord later at a Billy Graham Crusade. Stan was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Richland and he strongly believed that salvation was through a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen; son, Matt (wife, Kathy), grandchildren, Melissa (with great-grandchild, Jackson) and Sam, all of Leavenworth, WA; son, Curt (wife, Koreen), grandchildren, Mark, Sarah (husband, John and great-grandchild, Madysen), all of Tri-Cities, WA; and grandchild, Leah of Portland, OR. He is also survived by his brother, Lloyd of Omaha, NE; and many nieces and nephews. Stan was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and five sisters.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2009, at the Sunset Memorial Gardens, 915 Bypass Highway in Richland, WA.
