Christmas tree permits now available
Wednesday, November 11, 2009
WENATCHEE — The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is selling $5 permits to cut down or dig up Christmas trees on the national forest.
The permits allow each family to take two trees, with a height of 15 feet or less.
The agency suggests that people should be prepared for snowy weather, check for avalanche hazards, and tell someone else where they’re going. The permits can be placed in the window instead of a Northwest Forest Pass, but after snow accumulates, a Sno-Park permit is also required in parking areas maintained for winter recreation.
Permits are available at all national forest ranger stations, and at these locations: Hooked on Toys and Arlberg Sports in Wenatchee; Shell Foodmart in Chelan; Entiat Food Center in Entiat; Parkside Grocery, Midway Village and Plain Hardware in Lake Wenatchee; Dan’s Food Market, 76 Station and Shell Village Mercantile in Leavenworth; Chevron Station in Okanogan; General Store in Conconully; Junction Mini Mart in Tonasket; Carlton General Store in Carlton; Twisp Chevron Station, Hank’s Market and Hanks Mini Market in Twisp; and Pardners Mini Market in Winthrop.
