Bowers commits to UW

CHELAN — Even without a scholarship, Kelli Bowers was happy to have a spot on the University of Washington women’s golf team starting in 2010.
But after an impressive summer on the course, some things fell into place and UW coach Mary Lou Mulflur was able to offer Bowers a full ride.
“That is where I wanted to be the whole time,” Bowers said. “At first there weren’t any scholarships available, but after a couple tournaments, they offered me.”
Bowers, who went on a recruiting visit in October, said she hopes college is the next step, not her final step, in her golf career.
“My goal is to play professionally,” she said. “That’s my dream. If golf doesn’t work out, I’d like to be a teacher, follow in my parents’ footsteps. I love working with kids, so teaching and coaching.”
