SAIPAN, Northern Mariana Islands — A gunman went on a rampage on the Pacific resort island of Saipan today, killing four people and wounding six others before fatally shooting himself, officials said.

Two men, a 4-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl, all local residents, were killed inside a shooting range, authorities said. A 4-year-old girl was injured. In a separate attack at a World War II historical spot, five South Korean tourists were wounded.

Authorities said the suspected shooter was a contract worker in his 30s or 40s from Asia, but did not provide his name or home country.
