Forest Service seeks advisory members
Friday, November 27, 2009
WENATCHEE — The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is looking to fill two vacancies on its 15-member Resource Advisory Committee.
The committee meets three or four times each year to discuss and recommend projects to be funded with federal money through the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act.
Projects must benefit national forest lands in Chelan, Okanogan, Kittitas or Yakima counties.
Committee members represent organized labor, recreation, energy and mineral development, timber, grazing, the environment, archaeological interests, schools, American Indian tribes, the public at large and elected officials from state, county and local governments.
They are selected based on their education, training, experience and knowledge of the area. They are expected to serve a three-year term, and are not compensated, except for travel and other expenses related to meetings.
For more information, or for an application, contact Robin DeMario at 664-9292, or visit www.fs.fed.us/r6. Completed applications must be returned by Jan. 11.
