Cecil Hendrick was born September 29, 1925, at Omak, WA, to Frank Hendrick and Georgia (Featherly) Hendrick. Cecil spent his entire life at Omak, except for a short time during World War II and the last month of his life, when he moved to Wenatchee. He attended Omak schools for 11-½ years, then finished high school at Bremerton, WA, before joining the Army. He was accepted into the Aviation Cadet Program, but after contracting Scarlet fever and Rheumatic fever, he was assigned to the Army Corps of Engineers, where he spent 15 months. After returning to Omak, he married his childhood sweetheart, Trudy Adam, on May 1, 1946. They operated an apple orchard on Pogue Flat until they retired in 1986. They received the "Grower of the Year" Award in 1964. Cecil served on many boards and committees related to orcharding, including President of the Okanogan County Horticultural Association and President of Washington Grower's Clearing House. Cy and Trudy were involved in several leisure activities, including square dancing, bowling, boating, flying, golfing and traveling. They have traveled to every state and visited 23 foreign countries. Cecil was active in the Catholic Church and served as President of the Holy Name Society and the Catholic PTA.

Survivors include his wife, Trudy, now living in Wenatchee; four children, Terri Bawden (David) of Wenatchee, Tauni Hink (Tim) from Cashmere, Robert Hendrick (Susan) of Orcas Island and David Hendrick from Olympia; and one "adopted" daughter, Carla Roberts of Wenatchee. He has eight grandchildren, Mark Ullrich, James Ullrich, Karisse Earle, Aletha Gardner, Zack Hendrick, Jazz Hink, Addy Hink and Quynn Hink; and two great-grandchildren, Jordyn Earle and Oakley Gardner. Cy will always be remembered for his cheerful smile and bright blue eyes. Everyone knew him as a kind and humble man with a great sense of humor and a gentle spirit.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 2511 Elmway in Okanogan. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local Hospice; they have been so good to Cy and his family. Services are under the direction of Legacy Memorial Funeral Home. www.legacymemorial.info
