Gretchen Elaine Sutton passed away on October 12, 2009, at her home in Lynnwood, WA, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Gretchen was born on December 3, 1932, in Kalispell, MT, to Thomas and Maybelle St. Germain. Gretchen moved with her family to Monitor, WA and graduated from Cashmere High School in 1951. Gretchen enlisted in the Women's Air Force. She was active in the Order of Eastern Star (Goldenrod and Alderwood Chapters) and was a past Worthy Matron and Deputy Instructor. Gretchen was married to Mark J. Sutton, Sr. for 29+ years.
She is survived by their children, Dean (Heather) of Everett, Blanche (Sal) Saladino of Poulsbo, Mary (Ken) Thresher of Wenatchee, Mark (Glenna) of Bremerton, Ray of Snohomish and Brian (Stephani) of Everett; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Austin of Wenatchee; and brother, Gordon St. Germain of East Wenatchee.
A Celebration of Gretchen's Life, under the direction of Purdy & Waters Floral Hills in Lynnwood, WA, will be held Sunday, October 18, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. Viewing will be on Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. An online memorial will be available at www.mem.com. Donations, in memory of Gretchen, may be made to Washington State Special Olympics or Providence Hospice of Snohomish County.
