MANSFIELD — Fire Chief Tyler Caille with Douglas County Fire District 5 said the district will try a third time to get voters to approve a bond to help pay for equipment and make improvements to the fire station.
He said the district in the past asked voters to approve a $540,000 20-year bond. This time around, the district is asking for a $350,000, 15-year bond that Caille estimates would cost voters approximately 45 cents per $1,000 assessed property value.
He said the money would be used to purchase two or three brush trucks, a water tender and replace the roof and insulation at the fire station, which was built in 1974.
