Several NCW projects funded by recovery funds

NCW — The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced 78 projects that will get about $89 million in funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, including three in North Central Washington.
The funds are aimed at restoring forest health on federal, state and private land.
The three projects winning funds in Chelan and Okanogan counties include:
• $9 million for improvement and maintenance of roads in National Forests across Washington and Oregon, including roads in Chelan and Okanogan counties.
• $1.86 million to hire youth crews to clear and maintain parts of the Pacific Crest Trail in Washington and Oregon, including portions in Chelan and Okanogan counties.
• $1.24 million to improve forest health on private lands in five eastern Washington counties, including Okanogan County.
