ORONDO — Greg Mooney picked a good time to notch his first-ever hole in one on a regulation course. Mooney aced the 170-yard eighth hole at Desert Canyon on Sept. 12 in the Such and Such Polish Scramble.
The hole in one earned Mooney a new car — a 2009 Pontiac G5 — from Sangster Motors.
Mooney’s only previous hole in one came at Lakeview Golf, a par-3 course in Vancouver.
Kahler Glen tournament
On Sept. 10, seven three-man teams competed in a “blind bogey” event at Kahler Glen. Bob Myres, Bill Sage and Terry Gates combined for the victory.
Kahler Glen ladies league
Linda Weir, Lou Greenlee and Lea Rines won the weekly game “Mutt and Jeff” in Kahler Glen Ladies Golf League play Sept. 8. Janelle Brown, Judy VanEyk and Sue Sample were second.
The Team Ribeez softball team, sponsored by First Choice Floor Coverings, went 8-2 at a one-pitch tournament in Selah, and raised $125 for the Children’s Wishes and Dreams Foundation by hitting 25 home runs in the tournament.
Christian Clerc of Wenatchee Area Racers and Todd Strahm of Arlberg Sports competed in the Washington State Hill Climb Time Trial Championships at Crystal Mountain on Aug. 22.
Clerc finished in 27:29.6 to finish fourth overall, and Strahm won the Master B division in 25:34.5.
Valley Mixed League
Bowlgasm had the high team game (868) and team series (2,329) for the week of Sept. 10, and leads the league at 14-6 through the games of Sept. 17. High individual games and series were turned in Sept. 10 by Greg Blaufuss (278, 613), Bill Plunkett (245, 614), Dave Birmingham (247), Rob Harrison (235, 235, 649), James Swafford (235, 624), Zane Brewer (229, 657) and Catherine Swafford (193, 523).
On Sept. 17, In Print had high team game (765) and series (2,161), and top individual scorers were Greg Blaufuss (247), James Swafford (234, 640), Brewer (226, 627), Dan Collins (611), Catherine Swafford (244, 587) and Rosamond Dibble (507).
IBProfen leads the Stemilt League at 25-7 through Sept. 11. High scorers that night included James Swafford (227, 608), Catherine Swafford (529), Kelly Campbell (213), Jeff Logg (234), Joe DeShazer (247), Kerry Caveth (216, 618), Lois Yant (501), Sam Miller (206, 610), Pete Burke (218, 613) and Josh Musgrove (249, 652).

Shud A Ben had the high team game (715) and series (2,067), but Just Us and Roller Bowlers shared the league lead at 17-7 through league play Sept. 1.
