Ardenvoir triathlete honored at Seattle race

Annie Gerber of Ardenvoir was named “Most Inspirational Triathlete” at the Trek Women’s Triathlon on Sunday in Seattle.
Gerber, a school nurse at Eastmont and 20-year cancer survivor, was selected for the honor from a field of more than 1,300 women.
Gerber spoke at the pre-race event Saturday and after completing the race Sunday received a $1,000 diamond-studded penant.
Bowling
Mike Greening posted the top series, a 621, in the Double Gender League on Sept. 18. High individual game honors went to Alex Baskett with a 226. Still Wishful had the high game (665) and series (1,892), while Money Shot sits atop the league standings at 6-2.
In the Young at Heart League, Shud A Ben combined for high team series (2,030), while Goldens’ 716 team game was tops in that category. Bob Fries rolled a 278 game on the way to a 647 series, and Barb Steer had a 203 game.
In the Service League, Acab-N-Courier leads the way at 14-2 through the games of Monday night. Vern’s Mobile Service put together a 1,037 high team game for the week, while CED scored a 2,915 high series. Denny Kennedy Jr. rolled a 268 game on the way to a 739 series, while Lee Breckenridge and Alex Getchman had series of 677 and 660 respectively.
Erik Davis (287) edged Dave Blades (279) for high game honors in the Kingpins League on Tuesday. Craig Becker (269) and Barry Tate (268) were also in the hunt for the high score. Bob’s Heating combined for a 1,166 scratch game and 3,102 scratch series.
In Grandma and Grampa’s League action Thursday, Cal Maxwell had high men’s series at 627, and Arlene Dusenberry was tops for the women at 542. Dot Bollinger had a 206 game.
Fred Stewart put together a huge night in the Valley Mixed League with games of 235, 278 and 245 for a 758 series. Casey Blaufuss (259), Lou Bencze (257) and Rob Harrison (252) also had games over 250, while Jenny Hoffert had a 200 game on the way to a 546 series.
Golf
In “three clubs and a putter” play at Three Lakes this week, Claudia Speer won Division I low gross at 95, and Kay Anderson won low let at 70. Winners in Division II were Carolle Brantner (106) in gross and Marj Stegman (73) in net.
In Kahler Kup play Tuesday at Kahler Glen, Brownies won the team competition.
Individual winners were Pam Nicklas, Linda Bockelmann, Lou Greenlee, Carol Billesbach and Lisa Hanson.
