Lorene Marcile (Pence) Bowling
Monday, August 2, 2010
Lorene Bowling, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many, passed away July 29, 2010, with family members at her side. Lorene was born on February 9, 1920, to Herman and Mabel Pence in Mannford, OK and lived there until the age of 11, when the family moved near Springfield, MO, before meeting the "tall, handsome, young man who soon became her husband." Fred and Lorene were married in Brownspring, MO on March 11, 1936, and began a journey to what became their home in Washington State. They raised three sons and four daughters who all graduated from Okanogan High School. They celebrated 46 years of marriage before Fred passed away in December 1981. Our loving mom worked outside the home. However, her true passion was being a wife and mother and always being there for her family. Mom's hobbies were crocheting and gardening. She was also skilled at cake decorating and created many beautiful wedding, anniversary and birthday masterpieces. She also loved to go camping, square dancing and watch sports. But, she never enjoyed anything more than family gatherings.
Mom is survived by her son, Calvin (Maralee) Bowling of Omak; her daughters, Joyce Bowling of Covington, Jan (Rick) Kincaid of Nine Mile Falls, Sue (Dick) Brooks of Omak and Judy (Jeff) Smith of Wenatchee; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Delbert (Fern) Pence of Wenatchee. She was preceded in death by two sons, Lonnie and Jimmie; two granddaughters, Tami and Ann; and sisters, Dorothy Huckleberry and Virginia Pfitzer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lorene's name to Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Omak, where she attended for many years, or Harmony House Health Care Center in Brewster. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2010, at the Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel. A Celebration of her Life will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at 1:00 p.m., at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship on Riverside Drive in Omak. Graveside Services will be held at the Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens following the church service. Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel is in care of the arrangements.
