MOSES LAKE — Tom Jones of Moses Lake, a candidate for Grant County sheriff, is cancer-free after treatment at Central Washington Hospital, according to a news release from his campaign workers.
Jones said he is continuing his campaign for sheriff. He was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia July 1. He received chemotherapy at Central Washington Hospital July 2-28 and has since returned home, the release states.
“It was confirmed, by Tom’s doctor, the chemotherapy was successful in that Tom is in 100 percent remission,” according to the news release. “… No remaining cancer genes were found in Tom’s marrow study. Tom will receive additional outpatient treatment to ensure these results are permanent.”
Jones, a sergeant with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, is running as a Republican against Republican incumbent Sheriff Frank T. DeTrolio.
