Doris Ann (Patrick) McCandless

Doris Ann (Patrick) McCandless was born to Ralph and Ressie Patrick at their family home in Wenatchee, WA on July 27, 1924. She passed away in the loving embrace of her family on December 13, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, whom she loved dearly, Keith McCandless; two sons, Gerald and Steve; and five daughters, DeAnn, Janet, Linda, Debby and Mary; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Miles and Robert Patrick; and sister, Ila Sage.

She graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1942, and from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in 1945. A Nurse for 30 years, she was acquainted with many local residents. Doris left her family and friends gifts of hand crafted items, as she carried on her family tradition of needle work. She expressed her art in beautiful quilts, afghans and embroidery. Doris was a praying mother of abiding faith and a charter member of the East Wenatchee Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Viewing will be held Thursday, December 16, 2010, from 1:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home in Wenatchee. Services will be held Friday, December 17, 2010, at 1:30 p.m., at the East Wenatchee Seventh-Day Adventist Church. My sympathy to all the family in this time of your loss. I'll always remember Doris telling me how to cook for a "large" family and the advice she gave me on becoming a nurse. We lived across the street on Dakota. Sue (Wright) Duvaul and Sheila and Linda
