Harold G. Stroud

Harold G. Stroud, 76, a 60 year resident of the Wenatchee area, died Friday, January, 29, 2010, at home. He fought a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 28, 1933, in Melbourne, AR to Alford and Ella Stroud. He received his early education in Melbourne and graduated from high school there in 1951. He entered the U.S. Army in 1953, and served in the Korean Conflict as a Staff Sergeant. He received an honorable discharge in 1955. He married Wanda Harvell in 1955-1968. They had five children. In 1969, he married Frances Pratt, who had two boys, which made seven children at home. Harold retired from the WSU Tree Fruit Research Center and later was co-owner of E & S Orchard in Orondo. Harold loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boating. If Harold heard the perch were biting, you would be sure to see Harold at that lake! Harold loved walking the trail with his dog, Jackie, daily.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Stroud; children, Russel (Denette) Stroud of East Wenatchee, Sonia Stroud of Wenatchee, Greg Stroud and Jeff (Nancy) Stroud of Melbourne, AR, Mike (Jenny) Pratt of East Wenatchee and Steve (Teri) Pratt of Spokane; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Jackie. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ellis Stroud; four sisters, Estelle Kidwell, Rava Coleman, Gracie Williams and Florene Wray; and his son, Travis Stroud.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home, with Graveside Interment at Evergreen Memorial followed by a reception at the American Legion. Rip Harold. That was a beautiful service and I am so glad I was able to give your grandson and his family a ride over the pass to put you to rest. You were a good man and you are going to be missed by a lot of people.
