Koos 11th in World Cup race

CANMORE, Alberta — In the final World Cup competition before the Olympics, Leavenworth native Torin Koos skied to an 11th-place finish in the classic sprint Saturday in Canmore, Alberta.
Koos was the top American finisher. Five U.S. skiers finished in the top 30.
Emil Joensson of Sweden won the men’s race.
On the women’s side, Wenatchee native Laura Valaas finished 36th. Valaas was the third American finisher, behind Olympians Kikkan Randall (10th) and Holly Brooks (28th).
Justyna Kowalcyk of Poland won the women’s race.
Koos and the other members of the U.S. Olympic team are expected to leave Tuesday for Vancouver.
