On the same day of the year she drew her first breath, our beloved mother, Barb Prest, drew her last. She was 76 years old. She was born to Cleasel W. and Madge (Funkhouser) Zirkle in Yakima, WA. She spent her early years in Yakima. She met and fell in love with Donald L. Prest at the A&W on 5th Avenue in Yakima. They married on September 15, 1950. She was a homemaker until her children were grown, then she held various positions at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, worked as a Bookkeeper for a local gravel company and as an Office Manager at Dave Uhlman's Tax Service, until her retirement at age 66. She moved to Wenatchee in 2001, to be closer to her grandson, Chad, who held a special place in her heart. Barbara loved computers and other technical gadgets, handicrafts (was an excellent quilter), skiing for winter activities and motorcycle riding along mountain roads and trails. She had a big heart for animals. We will miss her gentle quick wit. It helped her and her family endure her fight with cancer. She saw the humor in everything and never spoke ill of anyone. She was generous to a fault.

She is survived by her daughter, Bobbie (Ken) Shank of Wenatchee, WA; son, Don (Elaine) Prest of Yakima, WA; three grandchildren, Chad Jansen of Wenatchee, Lindsey Shank of Honolulu, HI and Lainey Prest of Yakima; a sister, Billie (Walter) Doane of Entiat, WA; a brother, Keith (Betty) Zirkle of Yakima; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Dwane Lehman of Wenatchee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her mother and father; and a sister, Eleanor Corbus.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Mandy Robertson, Wenatchee Valley Oncology Staff and Central Washington Hospice.

She requested No Services, but a Celebration of her Life will be held in Yakima on Saturday, February 20, 2010, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the home of her son, Don, 6434 Cowiche Canyon Lane.
