Jimmie G. Salais, 64, a resident of Leavenworth, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. He was born on January 14, 1946, at Seattle, to Jessie F. and Louise E. (Dorris) Salais. Jimmie was raised in Woodinville and graduated from Bothell High School. In 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam as a Paratrooper. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to Seattle and worked for a time at Boeing, as a truck driver for a furniture moving company and later, for CNC Paint, being in charge of shipping and receiving for 15 years. On February 14, 1970, he married Inge F. Schachteli at Seattle, where they made their home. In 1991, they moved to Leavenworth, where they made many friends and enjoyed the beauty of the Valley. Jimmie spent his life loving the outdoors. He loved camping at Buffalo Lake, fishing for salmon on the Icicle River and spending time with his family and friends and, especially, with his three grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Inge Salais of the family home; daughter, Denise E. Morris of East Wenatchee; and grandchildren, Houston, Riley and Christopher Morris, all of East Wenatchee. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Dwight F. Salais.
A Funeral Service of Commemoration to Celebrate the Life of Jimmie G. Salais will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at Ward's Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth, at 1:00 p.m., with Chaplain Scott Langager officiating. Private Family Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery in Leavenworth. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
