Elaine Mae (Stewart) Seabeck (In Memoriam)

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Elaine Mae Seabeck passed away on February 24, 2010, due to complications from a long illness. Elaine was born on February 25, 1931, in Regent, ND, to John and Blanche Stewart. Elaine family moved to Yakima, WA in 1939, where she graduated from high school in 1949. She then went on to Yakima Community College, where she met Joseph F. Seabeck, whom she married four years later, when he returned from the service. Joe and Elaine moved to the Wenatchee Valley in 1963, and have resided in Wenatchee ever since. Elaine was to turn 79, on February 25, 2010, and joyously got to spend her birthday in the arms of Christ, her Savior. Elaine leaves behind many friends in Wenatchee, as well as high school friends from her home town of Yakima, WA. Elaine retired from Peoples Department Store in 1982, after 14 years, where she eventually ran the Housewares Department. It was there at Peoples, where she became one of the "Peoples store family" and began to make the many lifelong friendships she has maintained. Elaine was an avid golfer and was well known and loved by the many golfers she came in contact with throughout the Northwest. She was active on various boards with the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club, her home away from home, and was a longtime member of the club's Women's 18-hole group. Elaine also served as Chairman of the Annual Washington State Grandmother's Golf Tournament, which originated in Wenatchee. Elaine has been an active community supporter by volunteering her time with various groups, including March of Dimes, Census taking, Meals on Wheels, the Follies, Blue Birds and as a Camp Fire leader. Elaine could always be seen at her children's or grandchildren's sporting events, musicals and recitals. She truly loved to root them on and took deep pride in their accomplishments. Elaine loved to host social get togethers, especially during the Christmas season, her favorite time of the year. She loved to give and give of herself, and will be deeply missed on these special occasions.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph Seabeck of East Wenatchee; her brother, Gary Stewart of Bermuda Dunes, CA; son, John Seabeck and wife, Susan; daughter, Diane Parker and husband, Andy; son, Robert Seabeck and wife, Vickie, all of Wenatchee; daughter, Carol Addington and husband, Tim of Orange Beach, AL; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Friends of Joe and Elaine and the family are encouraged and welcome to join in a Celebration of Life for Elaine on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. that afternoon. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be provided. The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to North Central Washington Cancer Care or the Ronald McDonald House of Seattle. Please express your thoughts and memories on the online guest book at jonesjonesbetts.com. Arrangements assisted by Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home, Wenatchee.
