George Stanley "Stan" Snitily

George "Stan" Snitily, a longtime resident of Wenatchee, died on Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. Stan was born on February 22, 1918, in Seward County, NE to Anton and Mary Snitily. He received his early education in a one-room schoolhouse and graduated in 1935, from Seward High School. After graduating, Stan moved to San Diego, CA, where he met and married Helen Haworth on September 14, 1941. Stan received his Journeyman's Certificate in 1942, and worked on Navy construction projects in San Diego and San Francisco, before moving to Wenatchee in 1945. He joined brothers, Emanual Snitily and Frances Snitily, to form Snitily Brothers Construction Company. They built many projects in the Wenatchee area and highway bridges throughout Washington State, including several bridges on Interstate 90. Stan retired from construction in 1972, and spent time in California and Western Washington, before moving to Richland, WA in 1974. He owned Hanford Mobile Homes until his retirement in 1980. Stan was an avid golfer. After retirement, he enjoyed golfing nearly every day. Stan and Helen were regular participants in couples' golf tournaments around the state. When his beloved Helen died in 1988, Stan returned to Wenatchee. Stan was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wenatchee and Christ the King Catholic Church in Richland. He was also a member of the Elks and Wenatchee Country Club.
He is survived by his four children, Georgia and husband, Clark Wagner of Lacey, WA, Alan Snitily and partner, Bev LaChance of Boise, ID, Richard Snitily and wife, Mary of Richland, WA and Robert Snitily and wife, Sharon of Lewistown, MT. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Christine Lopez, Robert Patrick, Daniel Patitucci, Joanna Panter, Thomas Snitily and Patty Whitehead; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Private Family Service will be held at a later date.
