One summer before Marie Smithwick and I entered 8th grade, we were walking down the busy streets of Warden heading to Big Johns for some fries. Mr. Smith saw us and asked if we wanted a ride. I remember getting in his new car which still had the plastic seat covers over the upholstery. Knowing Mr. Smith I bet he never removed the covers; too funny. It must have drove him crazy teaching a bunch of germy, Jr. High kids. Mr. Smith had a great laugh and a dry sense of humor that I always enjoyed. Peace be with you Mr. Smith.
