Julie Fenske Bennett

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Most assuredly I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. ~ John 6:47. Julie dedicated her life and love to the Lord and her family and friends. Although now at home with the Lord, she will be greatly missed. Julie was 65 years old. Julie was born and raised in Omak, WA. Julie had two older brothers and was the only daughter of Esther and Henry Fenske. Julie grew-up and finished high school in the small community of Omak, WA, where she was loved by all, made lifelong friends and crowned Rodeo Queen of the famous Omak Stampede. She continued her studies and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Economics. She worked for Pacific Bell in Seattle, where she met her husband, Paul. Julie and Paul lived in San Francisco, until they moved to Bend, OR in 1978, to raise their family in a small town. Bend became Julie's home for the rest of her life, where she was known to many as an entrepreneur, business owner, financial planner, a librarian and finally, she worked for Habitat for Humanity. Julie was full of life and energy - involved in her church, community and enjoying the outdoors. She especially loved to hike, ski, play tennis, work in the yard, read books, laugh, enjoy great food, listen to Van Morrison, and travel (whether a short trip to the Oregon Coast with close friends or an adventure to the Holy Land). She found much joy in family and friends, great conversation and simply a good cup of coffee. These memories she has given to us all, to keep and share as we celebrate her life. Julie will forever be in our hearts as a cherished mother, wife, sister, friend, grandmother, intellect, Sunday school teacher, volunteer, rodeo queen and much more. A farewell is necessary to meet again. Whether after moments or a lifetime, it will be certain for those who believe.

She was preceded in death by her mother; father; and brother, Alan Fenske. She leaves behind her husband of 38 years, Paul Bennett; daughter, Dayna Lanning; son, Reed Bennett; grandson, Dominik Bennett; and brother, Gary Fenske.

A Memorial Service was held Sunday, January 3rd, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church and School. Contributions to her memory may be made to Partners in Care/Hospice.
