Together Again

Betty May was born May 9, 1925, in Seattle, WA to John and May Lavender and passed January 17, 2010. She lived in Selleck and the Black Diamond, WA area during her younger years, later moving to Wenatchee in 1937, where she met her husband-to-be in Wenatchee High School, Ted Munch. They were married on the capitol steps of Denver, CO on April 27, 1942, while Ted was serving in the Air Force. After World War II, they moved to Enumclaw, WA, where their first daughter was born. Shortly afterwards, they moved back to Wenatchee to establish their home, where they lived for the rest of their lives. She was a homemaker for over 62 years. She loved all animals, especially her chickens. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping and the ocean. Betty May enjoyed gardening with her husband. Her hobbies included learning about other cultures and languages. She was able to use these skills to teach at the Wenatchee Valley College. She taught English as a Second Language for many people, and also helped adults learn to read. She was an avid collector of everything. Betty May was a very devoted wife and mother and she will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Betty May was preceded in death by her parents, John and May Lavender; and her husband, Ted Munch. She is survived by one brother, John Lavender of Richland, WA; three daughters and one son, TeddyLee Ryan of Chelan, Tommy and Shelly Munch of Wenatchee, Janie Platts of Wenatchee and Tina and Noel Thorpe of Wenatchee; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her special lifelong friends, Bobby and Colleen Derry of East Wenatchee.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Cashmere Convalescent Center and Harborview Medical Center, for all their loving care they gave to mom.

Services will be held at the Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum on Friday, January 22, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception following at her son Tommy's house in Wenatchee. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society. Arrangements by Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home, Wenatchee.
