LEAVENWORTH — The Feb. 4 evening concert by violin maestra Midori at Sleeping Lady Chapel Theater, with pianist Charles Abramovic, has sold all available seats.
A free pre-concert talk by Midori, at 4:30 p.m., is still open for reservations by calling 548-6347. She’ll discuss her music and take audience questions while working with two violinists in a two-hour master class setting.
Born Midori Goto, the musician has ranked among the leading lights of classical performers since her debut with the New York Philharmonic at age 11.
This was followed by a rousing 1986 performance at Tanglewood under conductor Leonard Bernstein, at age 14, where she carried out her solo on Bernstein’s complex “Serenade After Plato’s Symposium” despite breaking the strings on two different violins.
She frequently tours and teaches, now chairing the string department of the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music.
The concert is underwritten by the Sleeping Lady Foundation.
