Hazel Jean Stull

Hazel Jean Stull passed away with family at her side on January 16, 2010, after battling with cancer for nearly one year. Hazel was known to all by her middle name, Jean. She was born on October 1, 1935, in Wenatchee, WA to John and Irene Denton and was one of six children. Jean was raised in Wenatchee and attended Wenatchee High School. On February 2, 1957, she married Stanley E. Stull and they had five children. Jean worked for a number of years as a waitress in the Wenatchee area and then the family moved to Lynnwood, WA in 1975. The next year, Jean went to work for General Telephone and had a 20 year career and held a number of different positions during her career with the phone company. Jean retired in 1996. Jean was a loving family member. She shared a home with her mother and cared for her mother, for a number of years before her mother passed away. Jean also shared her home and helped care for a disabled sister and a brother in their later years. Jean loved animals and was a lifelong pet owner. Jean had and cared for a number of cats at her Lynnwood home. She also provided food for birds, squirrels, raccoons and possums. Jean was an avid card player and played pinnacle and other card games at a number of senior centers and service clubs during retirement. She also had a lifetime love of playing solitaire and working crossword puzzles. Jean loved traveling to Reno with family and friends and to casinos with her friends from local senior centers. She loved to fish and be on the water. She spent many a day with family members fishing for Salmon on Lake Washington and enjoyed camping and fishing for trout and perch in Eastern Washington lakes.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Johnny Denton; her husband, Stanley; two children, Tony and Debbie; three brothers, Jim Denton, Don Denton and Jerry Denton; and one sister, Judy Therkelsen. She is survived by her daughter, Shelley (BG) Henkel of Bothell; two sons, Terry (Jeaninne) Stull of Mountlake Terrace and Fritz (Gail) Stull of East Wenatchee; her sister, Pat (RL) Bryant; one aunt, Linny Horton of East Wenatchee; and five grandchildren, Tina, Nathan, Danny, Renee' and Brian.

Jean will be laid to rest next to her husband and her two children in a Private Ceremony at the Abbey View Memorial Park in Brier, WA. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held for all family and friends on Saturday, February 13, 2010, in Lynnwood, WA, location to be determined.
