Mid-Valley Hospital sued over patient’s death

OMAK — Mid-Valley Hospital and three local doctors are named as defendants in a lawsuit alleging medical malpractice and wrongful death. Sheila A. Schiley, personal representative for the estate of Beatrice Wells, filed the lawsuit in Chelan County Superior Court. It alleges the defendants misdiagnosed Wells at Mid-Valley Hospital on two separate days — June 18, 2007, and June 19, 2007 — which caused her death June 20. Among the initial diagnoses were acute gastroenteritis and dehydration. The lawsuit states Wells, 71, died from a ruptured aortic aneurysm at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. It asks for damages to be determined at the time of a trial.
