WENATCHEE — A vehicle crashed into a telephone pole at Eighth Street and Princeton Avenue on Friday night, sending one man to the hospital and another to jail.
The passenger, Austin Everett, 20, of East Wenatchee, suffered a head injury and was treated and released at Central Washington Hospital, officials said.
The driver, a 21-year-old Wenatchee man, was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center on suspicion of vehicular assault.
The driver drove into a pole at the intersection at about 9:50 p.m. and fled to a nearby residence, where he was arrested, said Wenatchee Police Sgt. Stephyne Silvestre.
She said the passenger apparently hit his head on the windshield, and was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
Douglas County Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal, whose deputies assisted in the crash, said the passenger had a large bloody gash on his head.
Silvestre said the telephone pole had to be replaced.
