E. Thomas Smart, 76, passed away on March 6, 2010. Tom was born in Wenatchee on April 26, 1933, to Floyd and Nina Smart and was the youngest of their five children. He lived in the Entiat Valley his entire life and he truly loved it here, believing there was no better place to live. He worked as a logger for many years, was a long haul truck driver and then was employed by Big Toys Log Mill until he retired. Tom enjoyed horseback riding, snowmobiling, spending time on his boat or in his shop, helping the locals keep their motors running! In the last years, he enjoyed fishing and traveling with a lifelong friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and his wife of 58 years, Phyllis. Tom is survived by his daughter, Sandy (Joe) Hagen of Entiat; son, Dan (Sue) Smart of Entiat; his loving sister, Musie Stanaway of Ardenvoir; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be held at the Entiat Cemetery on Friday, March 19, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Entiat Fire and Ambulance Fund. Please express your thoughts and memories on the online guest book at jonesjonesbetts.com. Arrangements are being handled by Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home, Wenatchee.
