Luella May Hibbs

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Luella May Hibbs, 84, passed away at her home on May 3, 2010. She was born September 22, 1925, at Sioux Falls, SD, to Mildred and William Faucett. In 1941, at the age of 16, Luella moved with her parents from South Dakota to Seattle, WA. In April of 1949, she married Jim Jacobs at Edmonds, WA. In 1964, she moved her family to Soap Lake, WA, as she loved the warmer summers and small town. In 1965, she married Robert Hibbs of Quincy, WA and shortly thereafter, they moved to Wenatchee and lived there until all eight of her children moved on. She then returned to Soap Lake, where she had many friends and lived a very happy life. Her talent for gardening and woodworking turned her home and yard into a lovely display of flowers and lawn decorations. She spent many hours sewing matching dresses for her daughters and shirts for her sons. Embroidery was another favorite pastime that she excelled at, giving all her handmade items to friends and family. She was a very loving, generous and giving person and will be deeply missed. A special message from her children: We love you, Mom.

Luella is survived by her daughters, Linda (Greg) Roehrigh of East Wenatchee, WA, Judy Tucker of Burbank, WA and Deborah (Brian) Carroll of Wenatchee, WA; sons, Donald (LeAnn) Jacobs of Sutherlin, OR, Rodney (Bonnie) Jacobs and Alan Jacobs, all of East Wenatchee, WA, Randy (Angie) Jacobs of Spokane, WA and Gary Hibbs of Soap Lake, WA; sister, Rosaleen Mudra; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; her beloved dogs, "Big Girl" and "Bugsy"; close friend, Taylor; and dear neighbor, Hazel. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jim Jacobs and Robert Hibbs; and special friend, Herman Brown.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Noon. Please call Nicoles Funeral Home at 509-754-3420 for more information.
