Gerald L. "Gus" Coffield

Gerald L. "Gus" Coffield, 96, was born October 1, 1914, to Arthur and Wilma (Laughrey) Coffield out on the prairie south of Jewel, KS. He passed away on November 2, 2010. He went to Prairie Flower Elementary School until eighth grade. From there, he went to work on his dad's wheat ranch. He was working on a cattle ranch in Carbondale, CO, where he met and married Christine Benson on December 20, 1937. They lived in Carbondale for the first three years of their married life. They then moved to Clark Fork, ID, where their first child, Donna, was born. In 1942, they moved to Pateros, WA, where their second child, Sandee, was born. In 1956, they moved to East Wenatchee. In 1958, they moved to Brewster. Then, in 2001, they moved to East Wenatchee to be near their daughter. Gus worked many years for the Neff Ranches. His hobbies were family, gardening, horses, his dogs, motorcycles and his computer. He was a member of the East Wenatchee Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Gus is survived by one daughter, Sandee (Jim) Thornton of East Wenatchee; six grandchildren, Heidi (Scott) Weller of Vienna, VA, Mark (Lynn) Henderson of Sherwood, OR, Marshall (Kellie) Henderson of Vancouver, WA, Sean (Stephanie) Thornton of Quincy, Eric (Tina) Thornton and Katrina (Rhett) Morgan, all of East Wenatchee; 12 great-grandchildren, Tony and Tyson Thornton, Ericka Thornton, Garhett, Mitchell, Tori, Nathan, Ellie and Seth Morgan, Hannah and Noah Weller and Jesse Henderson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine; one daughter, Donna Henderson; his parents, Arthur and Wilma Coffield; and three sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010, at Telford's Chapel of the Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wenatchee Seventh-Day Adventist Dorcas Fund. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
