EAST WENATCHEE — With the regular season winding down, the Eastmont and Wenatchee girls swim and dive teams are right where they want to be.
The Wildcats and Panthers, who shared the Eastmont YMCA Aquatic Center for their dual meets Thursday, cruised to wins over Kamiakin and Walla Walla, respectively.
Eastmont beat the Braves 113-73 thanks to victories in nine events, including all three relays.
“This is our fourth meet in a row that we have had great swims,” said Eastmont coach Chris Stark, whose team improved 4-1 in the Big Nine 3A.
Danielle Boatright (200 and 500 freestyle) and Logan Howard (50 and 100 freestyle) each claimed two individual wins, while Anna Eifert took the 100 butterfly and Brooke Myers won the 100 breaststoke for the Wildcats.
Wenatchee defeated Walla Walla 109-56, taking six individual events to pick up its first league win of the year.
Despite the Panthers 1-2 league mark, coach James Elwyn said the team looks good across the board.
“We’re a much better, much deeper team,” he said. “It’s going to be a fun end to the season.”
Hannah Bruggman continued her solid freshman season, winning the 50 and 100 freestyle.
Taylor Christensen won the 200 freestyle and Randi Roberts won the diving event for Wenatchee.
Jacob Smith and Nicholas Boersma both posted top-six finishes in Wenatchee’s final regular-season meet of the season Thursday, helping the Panthers win two of three on the day. The Wenatchee girls also won two of three — both teams’ lone loss was to top-ranked Eisenhower — while Eastmont’s girls and boys went 3-0 and 2-1 on the day respectively.
