Elena Wiggins, a fifth-grade science teacher at Sterling Intermediate School, waves signs in support of an Eastmont School District education bond Friday morning at 9th Street and Eastmont Avenue in East Wenatchee.
If approved, local taxpayers would provide $30.8 million for repair and remodeling at Eastmont High, Sterling Intermediate and Grant Elementary schools. The new bond would increase taxes 50 to 56 cents per thousand of assessed valuation, or about $112 a year for a $200,000 home.
The district is also eligible for an additional $44.5 million in state matching funds if the bond passes.
Administration, faculty and staff will be out waving signs from now until Election Day, Nov. 2.
