Michi followed Perry throughout his Army career, spending time in Germany and Kentucky, before settling in the Tacoma area, where they raised three daughters. Her youngest daughter, Debra, gave her two grandsons, whom she greatly loved. In the 80's, she and Perry owned Perry's Market in Entiat, WA, which she closed when Perry died prematurely.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Kazuye Jenks; and brother, Yoshiye Tanizawa. She is survived by her daughters, Bobbie Mowery of Seattle, Donna Mowery of Tacoma and Debra Woodard of Wenatchee; her son-in-law, Kelley Woodard; her grandsons, Tyler and Christopher; and her brothers, Ryoji (Fusako) Tanizawa and Masaaki (Taeko) Tanizawa and their families.
