Wanda (Lea) Forhan, age 78, of East Wenatchee, WA, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2010, surrounded by her family. Wanda Juanita Lea was born May 14, 1932, in Eros, LA, the daughter of Joseph and Avis (Smart) Lea. She was raised as a Christian and, as a young teenager, volunteered at various bible camps around Louisiana. At age 16, she graduated from high school in Dry Prong, LA and was the only member of her graduating class. She attended college at Louisiana College in Pineville, LA and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. After college, she worked in San Diego, CA and Alexandria, LA. While working in Alexandria, she met Tim Forhan, who was stationed in Louisiana in the Air Force. She married Tim on August 24, 1958, and moved with him to his home in Wenatchee. In 1959, Wanda took a "temporary" job at the Employment Security office in Wenatchee that lasted for the next 29 years. During that time, she helped many people find employment and often had people stop her on the street to thank her. She retired in 1988. Wanda joined the First United Methodist Church soon after she moved to Wenatchee. She attended church faithfully and enjoyed her friendships with her church family. She also enjoyed camping, antiquing and spending time with her husband, sons, granddaughters and Buddy, her lap-dog.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 52 years, Tim; her son, Darwin Forhan and his girlfriend, Denise Marion of East Wenatchee; her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Diane Forhan of East Wenatchee; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Forhan and her fiance;, Jason Williams of East Wenatchee; her granddaughter, Paige Forhan of East Wenatchee; her brother, Gary Lea of Midland, TX; her brother, Grady Lea of Pensacola, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Buster, Cecil and Randall; and her sister, Christine.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Wenatchee. Graveside Services will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in East Wenatchee. Viewing will be Thursday, September 2, 2010, from 10 am to 6 pm. Memorial donations in Wanda's name may be made to Our House - Cancer Care or the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society. Arrangements are by Telfords Chapel of the Valley.
