Ila Mae Halterman

Ila Mae Halterman, 83, of Quincy, WA, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, August 28, 2010. She was born on June 26, 1927, to Abe B. and Nona (McCann) Richards at Carrington, ND. Ila attended school in North Dakota, before moving to Walla Walla, WA in 1941. She then moved in 1943 to Sunnyside, WA, graduating from high school in 1945. She attended Yakima Junior College for two years, where she attended their accounting program. Ila married Oliver Halterman on November 7, 1947, in Santa Ana, CA. They moved to Quincy in 1959. She had been employed over the years for Sunglow, Quincy Livestock, USDA, Quincy School District and Lamb Weston, where she retired in 2000. Ila had volunteered as Treasurer for the Quincy Habitat for Humanity for the past several years.
She is survived by her children, Oliver and Kellie Halterman of Yelm, Rich and Lynn Halterman of Bridgeport, Steve and Jeanne Halterman of Arlington, Carl Halterman of Quincy and Sharon and Earl Eisenrich of Spokane; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Pat and husband, Allen Bartee of Woodinville. Ila was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers; and one sister.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at the Free Methodist Church in Quincy. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Quincy Habitat for Humanity. Please leave a memory or sign the families' guest book at www.scharbachs.com.
