Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Trumbo
Sunday, September 5, 2010
Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Trumbo, 85, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2010. She was born in Wewoka, OK on May 19, 1925, to Thomas Manuel Creekmore and Georgia Shannon Logan. After graduation from high school, she attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, OK. On October 1, 1943, at 18 years of age, she married Charles E. "Slide" Trumbo in St. Petersburg, FL, while Slide was serving in the Air Force. The next 26 years she spent as a military wife, following her husband to his many duty stations, both in the U.S. and overseas, with four children and various pets in tow. Betty stayed active in her children's lives with scouting and school activities and kept her family's life as normal as possible with all the frequent moves and new schools. In 1969, upon her husband's retirement from the Air Force, they embarked on a new adventure, retiring to East Wenatchee and operating their newly planted apple orchard. They continued farming until 1989, when they retired again and moved to Hawaii full-time. Betty moved back to Wenatchee in 2005, to be closer to her children. Betty was an avid bridge player, bowler, golfer and animal lover. Her greatest love was music and she was not bashful when asked to sing on stage.
Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Gordon Stanfield of East Wenatchee; daughter and son-in-law, Kerry and Bill Small of Entiat; and son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Juli Trumbo of Sammamish. Also surviving are grandsons, David Stanfield, Samuel Small, Jess Small, Charlie Trumbo and Henry Trumbo and granddaughter, Anne Elizabeth Trumbo. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; her husband, Slide in May 2004; son, Thomas Trumbo in 2005; and one grandson.
A special thank you to Mark, Pat, Ramona and Gerry for your compassion and the wonderful care extended to Betty during her brief stay at Senior's Haven.
A Private Family Service has been held. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society Shelter, 1474 S. Wenatchee Avenue, Wenatchee, WA 98801. Arrangements were assisted by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.

Sympathies to the Trumbo Family...It is so difficult to lose our mothers. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I am sorry to be so late in expressing my sympathies to all of your family. Although I remember both of your parents and the boys, I especially remember Kerry and Shannon. I lost my Mother two years ago, so I can truly say I understand your loss.
