George Robert Adsitt
Aberdeen, WA
George Adsitt, 87, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Aberdeen, WA. He had suffered an acute bout of pneumonia and heroically dealt with Alzheimer's disease, but passed peacefully in his sleep. He was born in Spokane, WA and attended Wenatchee High School and later attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA. He was inducted into the Navy in 1944, and served as a Radio Technician in the South Pacific on the USS Arenac. He married his beloved wife, Gloria Hurd, in August of 1959. She preceded him in death on February 4, 2009. They lived throughout the Midwest until his retirement in 1984. They both enjoyed boating, traveling, fishing, camping and visiting friends and family. They had made Mesa, AZ their home at retirement, prior to their move to Aberdeen in 2007.
He is survived by his children, Allen (Dawn) Adsitt of Westport, WA, Alexia (David) Bellerson of Chandler, AZ and Sandy (Liatra) Dean Adsitt of Minneapolis, MN; grandson, Christofer (Sona) Westerlund of Billings, MT; grandson, Shawn Adsitt of Minnesota; grandson, Zachery Adsitt of Las Vegas, NV; grandson, Aaron Adsitt of Seattle; one granddaughter, Alethea Adsitt of New York; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Cade Westerlund of Billings, MT; and two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Nottage of Spokane and Colleen Peart of East Wenatchee. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria; his mother and father, Leah and Sandy Adsitt; and sister, Echo Clayson, His mother and father-in-law, May and Adam Hurd; brothers-in-law, Alfred and Melbert Hurd; and sister-in-law, Lauretta Baldwin, also went before him.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation for loving and caring for our father like he was "theirs." They told us he was their "favorite," as he was ours!
A Memorial Service for George and Interment for both George and Gloria is planned for Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. at the Evergreen Memorial Veteran's Park in East Wenatchee, WA.
