EAST WENATCHEE — The Southridge boys and Hanford girls won the Big Nine 3A golf circuits’ first stop at the Highlander Golf Course this year, an Eastmont-hosted POD meet on Monday afternoon.
Rain drizzled on the course throughout the day, and it was shortened to a 16-hole par-65 due to construction on the second and third holes. The renovation is scheduled to be finished by the time the Big Nine girls teams return for their district tournament on May 16.
Hanford’s Taylor Kain-Godoy shot a 75 to win her third of four POD meets this season to lead the Falcon girls to a top score of 328.
Eastmont’s Hillary Seabrook tied for third on her home course with an 82, including a six-under 30 on the front nine.
Cami Fishbourne tied for eighth 88 to help Eastmont post a third-place 361.
On the boys side, Southridge’s Nick Mandell shot a 63 to edge three other golfers.
Eastmont shot a fifth-place 304, led by Gavin Gahringer (73), Chris Shimek (74), and John Heinitz (75).
Big Nine 4A boys POD (Richland)
Wenatchee’s Chase Miller fired an 83 to finish eighth overall, but the Bombers ruled the day on their home course, as four Richland players shot under 82 at Meadow Springs.
Big Nine 4A girls POD (Walla Walla)
Kristin Strankman of Richland shot an 80 in the wind and rain at Walla Walla’s Veterans Memorial to lead Richland (342) to victory.
Wenatchee was second at 409, paced by Jordan Takasugi (91, tied for fifth).
Omak 1, Tonasket 0
Julian Cervantes scored in the 10th minute as Omak improved to 2-4 in CTL play.
Pateros 15, Oroville 0
Ivy Anderson went 3-for-3 with five runs batted in as the Nannies battered the Hornets.
