Georgimay (Gerhard) Weick was born in Omaha, NE on January 23, 1923, to George and Lillian (Passick) Gerhard. The second of three children, her elder brother was Quentin and her younger sister is Janet Bessette of Fair Oaks, CA. Georgimay married Austin Fengler of Tacoma, WA, while at Camp Lejeune, NC in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1944, and she moved to Tacoma five months after the birth of her first child, Mark (of Peshastin, WA) in 1945. Two other children, Valerie (of South Lake Tahoe, CA) and Barton (of Rockville, MD) followed. Georgimay received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the College of Puget Sound and taught in the Tacoma Public School District until her retirement in 1988. Georgimay and Austin divorced in 1959, and later she met and married Charles Weick of Sumner, WA. She and Charles had a son, Alex (of Federal Way, WA) in 1963. An adopted daughter, Denise Weick, lives in Tacoma, WA. After retirement, Georgimay moved to Manson, WA to be near her daughter on Lake Chelan, where she resided until about one year ago. She passed away in her home at Cashmere, near her son, Mark, the evening of December 27, 2010. Georgimay was liked by others for her intelligence, outgoing nature and friendliness. She will be missed by many. Georgimay belonged to the sorority Pi Beta Phi and was a Master Gardener. She had a lifelong love of the outdoors and spent many wonderful moments with friends and family at homes on Mirror Lake and Five Mile Lake in Federal Way, over the years. Later, she built a home with her second husband, Charles, above Brown's Point near Tacoma and continued a tradition of living in the country. Later, she built a beautiful home in Manson, on Lake Chelan, next to her daughter's home. She traveled extensively in her later years to Russia, the Ukraine, the near East, South and Central Americas, Mexico, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Africa, Alaska and Europe. She made many friends and shared many wonderful experiences abroad and at home with the Friendship Force.

In addition to her children, she is survived by seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be held at Saint Francis Catholic Church, 215 W. Allen Street, in Chelan, WA, on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. She asked that remembrances be directed to Master Gardener Foundation of Washington State, Attn: MGFWS Treasurer, 2151 Hoxie Avenue, Richland, WA 99354. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
