ENTIAT — The Riverside Christian girls put up big numbers in the fourth quarter on Friday night, outscoring Entiat 21-7. Fortunately for the Tigers, they’d built an enormous lead over the first three quarters and coasted to a 63-49 win.
With the win, Entiat improved to 4-1 in CWL South Division play, pulling into a second-place tie with Riverside Christian.
The Tigers jumped out early by clamping down on Riverside Christian’s Kendra Stamates.
“She’s 6-1, so we knew she had the size and that was something we were really focusing on tonight,” Entiat coach Bill Edwardson said. “We had to key on her a lot.”
Stamates had just four points at halftime. She was able to get loose for a dozen after the break.
Entiat’s Micaiah Hodge had 19 points. Mandy Southard scored 17, Alex Larson put up 12 and Maritza Diaz had 11.
White Swan 73, Waterville 15
The difference: White Swan scored 24 in the first quarter and 27 in the third to overwhelm the Shockers.
Highlights: White Swan’s Miami Van Pelt had 16.
Kittitas 52, Soap Lake 12
The difference: Kittitas held Soap Lake to just two points in each of the first two quarters.
Pateros 63, Bridgeport 44
The difference: Pateros hit eight 3-pointers to pull away. Four of the 3s were made by Casey Stennes.
Highlights: Chancy Gill led Pateros with 17 points, while Liddy Bucio had 11 for Bridgeport.
Lake Roosevelt 56, Oroville 44
The difference: Lake Roosevelt hit all five of its 3-pointers in the first quarter to take a 27-10 lead.
Highlights: Dominique Pleasants had 17 points for Lake Roosevelt, while Naomi Peters had 12 for Oroville.
Liberty Bell 42, Manson 34
The difference: Manson did not score until late in the second quarter, and by then Liberty Bell led 17-0.
Highlights: Haylee Ellsworth led the Trojans with 14 points, while Paige Stevie had 13 to pace Liberty Bell.
Ephrata 52, Toppenish 47
The difference: Kelsey Yenney was 5 for 6 from the line down the stretch to preserve Ephrata’s lead.
Highlights: Yenney led the Tigers with 20 points.
Quincy 45, Othello 43
The difference: The Jacks outscored the Huskies 14-9 in the fourth quarter to wrest away the victory.
Highlights: Desi Durfee had 17 to lead Quincy, which overcame a 21-point, 19-rebound effort by Othello’s Christine Kirkwood.
Quincy 61, Othello 48
The difference: Jacob Durfee scored the last of his team-high 19 points with a minute to go, and Quincy’s defense held for the last two possessions.
Highlights: Luke Grigg chipped in 17 for the Jacks.
Toppenish 66, Ephrata 54
The difference: Ephrata had a five-point lead at the break, but got outscored 17-8 in the third quarter.
Highlights: Zach Allen scored 20 points in a losing effort for the Tigers, and Brad Christensen added 15.
Pateros 81, Bridgeport 26
The difference: Pateros led 22-2 after one quarter.
Highlights: Bridgeport had no answer for the Billygoats’ big three of Blayne Harvey, Rylan Easter and Paul Myrick, who combined for 69 points.
Lake Roosevelt 61, Oroville 53
The difference: The Hornets struggled to stop 6-foot-8 Raiders post Ty Egbert.
Highlights: Egbert had 26 points. Michael Garrett led Oroville with 18 points.
Riverside Christian 55, Entiat 52
The difference: The Tigers had two late shots to force overtime, but both rattled out.
Highlights: Thomas Sanford led the Tigers with 20 points, and Nathan Spies added 14.
White Swan 75, Waterville 15
The difference: White Swan scored as many points in each quarter as Waterville had total for the game.
Highlights: Lawrence Fiander had 20 for White Swan.
Kittitas 64, Soap Lake 49
The difference: Soap Lake led 26-21 at halftime, but got outscored 20-6 in the third quarter.
Highlights: David Coreas had 19 for the Eagles.
