EAST WENATCHEE — Early season or not, it’s never too early to start thinking about a points race.
When the Big 5 Late Models take to the Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval for the second time this season Saturday, that’s exactly what will be on the minds of the racers.
With 2010 champ Joe Constance out of the picture on opening night in late April, Josh Roberts took the checkered flag in his No. 9 car. That, and his quick 190 points from the victory, will earn him a bulls-eye on his back once the green flag comes out this weekend.
Chad Holaday (187 points) and Chris Walters (169 points) will have the best chances of overtaking Roberts in the lead.
Also hitting the track will be the WMRA Midgets and NW Pro4 Trucks and Legends.
The Pro4 Trucks series has three races under its belt already this season, and Saturday will be it’s first trip of the year to the East Wenatchee track. It will return July 23.
Jeff Hector and Scott Waulters, who have shared the No. 88 truck this season, enter Saturday tied with Jerry Buell for the lead at 257 points. Terry Warren is close behind with 252 points.
The WMRA Midgets will be running the second of four races this season at the Super Oval, while the Pro4 Legends will make its only stop here.
