SPOKANE — Whitworth guard Michael Taylor has been named the NCAA Division III Player of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
The former Brewster star, who was also the Northwest Conference player of the year, led Whitworth in scoring (20.3 ppg.) and assists and led the league in both free throw percentage (88.4) and 3-point percentage (52.8). The Pirates went 28-2 this season, the best record in school history.
Taylor was also a first-team State Farm Coaches Division III pick and first-team D3hoops.com All-America selection, the 2011 West Region player of the year for the NABC and D3hoops.com.
Taylor will be presented with the award April 3 at the NABC awards show in Houston.
